▲ Go Min-ji after joining Heungkuk Life
The V-League women's professional volleyball team Heungkuk Life Insurance has reinforced its defensive lineup by signing Go Min-ji, a former Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the semi-professional stage.
The Heungkuk Life club announced today that it has signed Go Min-ji from the Suwon City Hall team, who is recognized for her exceptional reception and defensive skills.
Graduating from Daegu Girls' High School, Go made her professional debut after joining IBK Altos through the 2016-2017 rookie draft. She has since played for KGC Ginseng Corporation (now JungKwanJang) and Hyundai Hillstate, and most recently competed for the semi-professional Suwon City Hall team.
Notably, she led Suwon City Hall to victory in the recently concluded Korea Semi-Professional Volleyball Federation Championship and Pro Futures Championship, earning the tournament MVP award.
Heungkuk Life decided to recruit Go in high regard of her stable defensive ability and rich experience accumulated across both professional and semi-professional stages.
Heungkuk Life Head Coach Tomoko Yoshihara expressed high expectations, stating, "Go Min-ji has the strength of being able to play not only as a libero but also as an outside hitter. As a player who can be utilized flexibly depending on the game flow and the opponent, she will be a great help to our team operations."
Through the club, Go shared her thoughts, saying, "I sincerely thank Heungkuk Life for reaching out to give me another opportunity on the professional stage, as well as Suwon City Hall for their endless support. I will take responsibility and do my best in every match to become a player the team can trust whenever needed."
Go Min-ji will participate in the upcoming KBSN Korea-China-Japan Women's Volleyball Super Match and the Jeju Island preseason training camp to begin gelling with her new teammates.
