Professional baseball team LG Twins has carried out a major reshuffle of its coaching staff to rejuvenate the team's atmosphere.
The LG club announced today (July 27) that it has changed the positions of its first-team and Futures (minor league) coaching staff, which includes moving Song Ji-man, the former first-team base running and outfield coach, to first-team hitting coach.
Coach Kim Il-kyung, who previously handled defense, has expanded his role to quality control (QC) and defense coach.
Coach Yoon Jin-ho from the Futures team is joining as the first-team defense coach, while Kim Yong-eui, the remaining group hitting coach, is moving to first-team base running and outfield coach to work closely with the first-team squad.
In addition, Choi Kyung-chul, the Futures battery coach, is newly joining as the first-team battery coach.
Suzuki Fumihiro, who previously led the first-team as battery coach, has moved to the Futures battery coach position, and Kim Jae-yul, the former first-team hitting coach, has moved to the remaining group hitting coach.
Jeong Joo-hyun, the Futures strategy coach, will now serve as both strategy and defense coach.
LG snapped an eight-game losing streak in the game against the Hanwha Eagles in Daejeon the day before yesterday, but suffered a 4-14 heavy defeat in yesterday's game.
The LG club explained, "We implemented positional changes for some coaching staff members to bring a change to the team's atmosphere."
Sinking into a slump with 1 win and 8 losses since the start of the second half, LG has dropped to third place, trailing the first-place Samsung Lions by 5 games.
