As the monsoon season reaches its final stage, sweltering heat is running high.
Heat wave advisories and warnings have been issued for most parts of the country.
In particular, a severe heat wave warning has taken effect in the Yeongnam region.
Today, the Yeongnam region, which is under a severe heat wave warning, saw its maximum perceived temperature soar above 38°C (100°F).
Seoul also experienced sweltering heat with a perceived temperature of around 33°C (91°F).
The heat will persist day and night for the time being.
Since the risk of heat-related illnesses is high, you need to take care of your health by drinking water frequently.
Please note that due to severe atmospheric instability, turbulent showers may pour down mainly in the greater Seoul area, Chungcheong, Jeonbuk, Gyeongbuk, and Yeongnam regions until this evening.
Tomorrow morning, the temperature in Seoul is expected to be 26°C (79°F), raising the possibility of a tropical night.
Daytime temperatures are forecasted to reach 33°C (91°F) in Seoul and 36°C (97°F) in Daegu, and high humidity will make the perceived temperatures even higher than the actual readings.
On Monday, rain is expected in the greater Seoul and Gangwon regions.
After the rain stops, the monsoon season will come to an end in both the central and southern regions.
