LAFC forward Son Heung-min has found the net in three consecutive Major League Soccer (MLS) matches, helping fuel his team's four-game winning streak.
Son broke a 0-0 deadlock just five minutes into the first half during a home match for the 2026 MLS regular season Round 18 against Sporting Kansas City at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, California.
This marks Son's third MLS goal of the season.
Having struggled to score in regular-season fixtures since the MLS opening in February, Son scored his first goal on July 18 in his first match back following the 2026 CONCACAF World Cup break. He has now scored in three straight games, following up against Real Salt Lake on July 23 and continuing through today's match.
This is the first time in about 10 months that Son has scored in three or more consecutive MLS matches, following a four-game scoring streak in September of last year.
Including two goals in the CONCACAF Champions Cup, Son's total goals across all official matches this season have increased to five.
Powered by performances from Son and Denis Bouanga—who recorded two goals and one assist—LAFC defeated Kansas City 4-0 to secure their fourth consecutive league win, moving up to second place in the Western Conference with 33 points.
LAFC has displayed an explosive attacking firepower, netting 10 goals over their last three matches.
Starting up front as usual and forming the attacking trio alongside Bouanga and David Martínez, Son opened the scoring just five minutes into the match against Kansas City, who sit at the bottom of the Western Conference with 14 points.
During a counterattack, Timothy Tillman slipped a pass through, and after an opponent's tackle, Son collected the loose ball, drove into the penalty area, and shook the net with a right-footed shot.
While LAFC maintained control of the match without adding to their lead, Kansas City gradually attempted counter-attacks midway through the first half, but the gap widened when Bouanga scored in the 37th minute.
Mathieu Choinière delivered a long ball from the back, which Bouanga controlled with quick headers and chest touches before breaking into the penalty area and finishing with his right foot for the team's second goal.
In first-half stoppage time, Martínez joined the scoring sheet, allowing all three members of the attacking line to find the back of the net as LAFC entered halftime with a comfortable 3-0 lead.
Bouanga, who assisted Martínez's goal with a long-range pass, recorded one goal and one assist in the first half alone.
LAFC showcased ruthless efficiency by converting all three of their first-half shots on target into goals.
Son had a great opportunity in the 8th minute of the second half after receiving a pass from Martínez inside the penalty box, but his left-footed shot was blocked by opposing goalkeeper Stefan Cleveland, leaving him with regret.
In the second half, Kansas City increased their possession facing a three-goal deficit, but LAFC maintained a defensive organization worthy of the league's third-fewest goals conceded, keeping a clean sheet.
In the 32nd minute of the second half, Johan Bassong unleashed a powerful left-footed mid-range shot from the penalty arc for Kansas City's first shot on target, but it was stopped by LAFC goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.
Shortly after LAFC, confident of victory, substituted Son out for Jeremy Ebobisse in the 40th minute of the second half, Bouanga scored once more to celebrate a resounding win.
