Living NBA legend LeBron James is set to play his 24th season with the Philadelphia 76ers.
Born on December 30, 1984, and currently 41 years old, James posted on his social media today, saying, "I believe I can help Philadelphia become champions. I am very excited to energize the new fans and begin the final chapter of this incredible journey."
He also added, "This will be my final decision."
After parting ways with the Los Angeles Lakers following the 2025-2026 season—his 23rd in the league—James drew intense attention from basketball fans over whether he would retire or continue his playing career with another team.
While many franchises, including the Miami Heat and Cleveland Cavaliers, vied to sign James, he ultimately chose Philadelphia.
With James joining the team, Philadelphia instantly vaulted into championship contention.
Philadelphia last won an NBA Finals title in 1983 and has not advanced past the second round of the Eastern Conference playoffs since 2001.
For the 2026-2027 season, Philadelphia will challenge for a championship with a star-studded roster featuring James alongside big man Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecombe, and Jaylen Brown, who led the Boston Celtics to the NBA Finals championship in 2024.
Over his 23 seasons in the NBA, James has averaged 26.8 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 7.4 assists.
He has been selected as an All-Star 22 times, won four regular-season MVP awards, and earned four Finals MVP honors.
He has also won four championship rings, capturing titles twice with Miami (2012 and 2013), and once each with Cleveland (2016) and the Lakers (2020).
