The film 'The Colony' begins its simultaneous theatrical and VOD service starting today (July 23).
According to its distributor, Showbox, 'The Colony' will launch its service across various online and mobile platforms starting on July 23, including IPTV and cable TV VOD. Viewers can watch it via IPTV (Genie TV, Btv, U+tv), digital cable TV (Studio Choice), OTT platforms (Wavve, Apple TV, Coupang Play, Watcha, Google TV, YouTube, etc.), satellite broadcasting (SkyLife), and web hard platforms.
'The Colony' depicts the story of survivors isolated inside a building sealed off due to an unidentified infection outbreak, fighting against infected individuals evolving in unpredictable ways. Directed by Yeon Sang-ho, who also made 'Train to Busan', the film stars Jeon Ji-hyun, Koo Kyo-hwan, and Ji Chang-wook.
The film drew significant attention after being invited to the Midnight Screenings section of the 79th Cannes Film Festival, and upon its domestic release on May 21, it drew 5.94 million moviegoers nationwide. This makes it the second highest-grossing film at the 2026 box office, following 'The King and the Man' (16.91 million viewers).
Having effectively wrapped up its theatrical run, 'The Colony' is set to meet viewers in their living rooms and on mobile devices through IPTV services.
