Tomorrow (July 23) marks Daeseo, the solar term that translates to "great heat."
True to its name, sweltering heat will continue in the southern regions and Jeju, while heavy rain is expected in the central regions tomorrow as well.

Today, a long band of rain clouds has formed, stretching from southern China across the central part of South Korea. Within this system, a stationary front—meaning a zone of intense rain clouds—is actively developing right where cold air and warm air are clashing.
Today, heavy rain poured across various parts of the central region due to the influence of this active stationary front.
Tomorrow, intense rain will once again be concentrated between early morning and daytime.
Heavy rain of up to 50 mm per hour is expected in Incheon, northern Gyeonggi Province, and northern Gangwon Province, while Seoul, southern Gyeonggi Province, and central inland Gangwon Province will see 20 to 30 mm per hour.
Looking at the expected rainfall amounts, up to 120 mm or more is forecast for northern Gyeonggi Province, up to 100 mm or more for northern Gangwon Province, and up to 80 mm for other parts of the capital area and inland Gangwon Province. Meanwhile, scattered showers are forecast for the southern regions tomorrow; rather, once the rain stops, it will further drive up humidity, leading to sweltering heat both day and night.

Tropical nights are expected tonight in most parts of the country, including Seoul. While daytime heat will subside in the central regions tomorrow due to the rain, temperatures in the southern regions will soar to around 35°C (95°F).
Monsoon rain is expected to continue in the central regions through this weekend, and rain is forecast for the capital area and Gangwon Province until next Monday.
