Rain is falling across the central regions today, July 20.
Throughout this week, a stationary front will remain near the Korean Peninsula, causing monsoon rain to continue intermittently.
Today, a stationary front has formed near the Seoul metropolitan area as cold air from the north collides with warm air from the south. Meanwhile, hot and humid southwesterly winds are flowing into the southern regions along the edge of a high-pressure system, leading to sweltering heat both day and night.
Heavy rain is expected to continue in the central regions tomorrow.
In particular, residents should be cautious as intense rain is expected between early morning and the morning hours, with up to 80mm per hour in Incheon and northern Gyeonggi Province, and up to 50mm per hour in Seoul, southern Gyeonggi Province, and northern Gangwon Province.
By tomorrow, Incheon, northern Gyeonggi Province, and northern Gangwon Province could see more than 150mm of rain, while other parts of the Seoul metropolitan area, Gangwon Province, and the Chungcheong region are expected to receive up to 100mm of rain.
In the southern regions, the rain will often subside tomorrow.
Heat wave warnings have been expanded and strengthened once again today, primarily in the southern regions.
Tropical nights, where the overnight low remains above 25°C (77°F), are expected tonight in Jeju and the southern regions, and daytime temperatures in the southern regions are forecast to climb to around 33°C (91°F) tomorrow.
The stationary front is expected to remain over the Seoul metropolitan area until the day after tomorrow, bringing heavy rain to the central regions.
Monsoon rain is expected to continue intermittently across the country until Saturday.
