[Reporter] Yes, a video recently filmed at the departure hall of Incheon International Airport Terminal 1 has become a major issue.
As soon as the check-in counter opened, dozens of Chinese travelers ducked under the stanchion barriers and rushed forward all at once.
The scene was so chaotic that some even questioned if it was an AI-generated video, but it was a real situation. It has been confirmed that similar incidents have occurred five times just this month.
Due to the sudden line-cutting, passengers who were waiting in line were pushed back, and airport staff attempting to control the crowd reportedly suffered bruises after being caught in the surge.
The airport authority believes that Chinese shuttle traders (daigou) are flocking to the counter all at once to be the first to complete their boarding procedures.
Another contributing factor is the recent deployment of larger aircraft on Chinese routes, which has significantly increased the number of passengers needing to check in at the same time.
To prevent recurrence, the Incheon International Airport Corporation plans to install double-layered barriers to prevent passengers from leaving the designated queue, deploy additional safety personnel, and strengthen order guidance through digital signage.
