Monsoon rain will continue to fall in various parts of the country today.
Looking at the current radar imagery, the rain clouds are primarily concentrated in the eastern regions.
Heavy rain warnings were previously issued for parts of Gyeongbuk and eastern Jeonbuk, with Mungyeong experiencing intense downpours of around 30mm per hour at one point.
These warnings have since been lifted, and the intensity of the rain has weakened significantly.
Let us look at the rainfall totals recorded during the holiday period.
Yeongju in Gyeongbuk received nearly 200mm of heavy rain, and Seoul also saw significant rainfall exceeding 120mm.
The monsoon rain is expected to continue for the time being, with periods of rain and breaks.
Regarding the expected rainfall for today, 30 to 100mm is forecast for the Gyeongbuk region, while 5 to 10mm is expected in Seoul. Other regions will see between 5 and 60mm of rain.
The central regions will see frequent lulls in the rain, but in the Gyeongbuk region, there may be intense downpours of 30 to 50mm per hour until this afternoon, so please take precautions to prevent rain-related damage.
Meanwhile, temperatures have already risen above 25°C (77°F) in some areas, mainly in the south, where tropical night warnings are in effect.
With heat wave warnings continuing, particularly in the southern regions and Jeju, it will remain hot today with perceived temperatures rising above 31°C (88°F) in most areas.
