Professional baseball club kt wiz has parted ways with Wes Benjamin and officially signed left-handed pitcher Logan Allen as a full-time member of the team.
The club announced today (July 18) that it has signed a full-time contract with Logan for an annual salary of 425,000 dollars.
In addition, the club has requested the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) to place Benjamin on waivers.
Logan, who returned to the United States after failing to renew his contract following a 7-12 record and a 4.53 ERA with the NC Dinos last year, joined kt in early June as a short-term injury replacement foreign player after Benjamin was diagnosed with a right shoulder muscle injury.
During his six-week contract period, Logan pitched in five games as a starter, recording a 1-1 record with a 3.33 ERA. As Benjamin's recovery from his injury was expected to take longer, the team decided to remove the short-term replacement label and sign Logan to a full-time contract.
Logan received 125,000 dollars for his six-week stint.
Na Do-hyun, general manager of kt, stated, "Logan showed great stuff after joining as a replacement player and performed the role of an ace. We decided to make the change because Benjamin's injury recovery was taking longer than expected. We expect Logan to anchor our starting rotation, and we are also grateful to Benjamin for his dedication to the team."
Benjamin, who signed with kt for 1 million dollars—including a 300,000 dollar signing bonus, 600,000 dollar annual salary, and 100,000 dollars in incentives—played the role of a primary starter with a 7-3 record and a 3.16 ERA in 11 games. However, he leaves the team without finishing the season due to his injury.
