Monsoon rain is expected to continue throughout this Constitution Day holiday weekend.
Heavy downpours are forecast for the Chungcheong and southern regions today, July 17, and for the central region tomorrow, Saturday.
Currently, a stationary front has formed, bringing sporadic rainfall of about 5 to 10 mm per hour to the Chungcheong and southern regions.
These areas will see an additional 20 to 60 mm of rain through tonight.
By tonight, the rain clouds will expand to include the Seoul metropolitan area and Gangwon Province.
Looking at the expected rainfall through the day after tomorrow, the Seoul metropolitan area could see between 100 mm and over 300 mm, while the northern part of the Chungcheong region could also receive over 250 mm of intense, heavy rainfall.
In particular, residents in the central region, including the Seoul metropolitan area, should thoroughly prepare for extreme downpours expected between early tomorrow morning and the morning hours.
High humidity and sweltering heat will continue today as well.
Daytime temperatures in Seoul and Daegu are expected to reach around 32°C (90°F).
