Overnight on July 14, heavy rain was concentrated in the Seoul metropolitan area and Gangwon Province, with over 130mm of rainfall recorded in Gangbuk-gu, Seoul.
Additionally, Seoul experienced intense rainfall of around 25mm per hour at one point.
Light rain will continue in some areas until this afternoon before tapering off.
Once the rain clouds pass, the heatwave and tropical nights will intensify once again.
Today, the perceived temperature in most parts of the country will rise above 31°C (88°F).
In particular, the temperature in Pohang, where a heatwave warning is in effect, is expected to soar to 38°C (100°F).
As we head toward the latter part of the week, the country will be under the influence of a stationary front again.
Rain is expected in regions south of Chungcheong, and there is a forecast for monsoon rain across the country on Sunday.
