Unification Minister Chung Dong-young visited the construction site of the Northeast Asia Peace Archive in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, which is scheduled to open next year, to inspect the progress of the project.
Minister Chung received a briefing on safety management measures from construction officials and emphasized, "Please thoroughly prepare for seasonal risk factors such as heat waves and heavy rainfall."
The Ministry of Unification plans to expand and develop the currently operating North Korea Information Center into the Northeast Asia Peace Archive, a peace archive that will exhibit, educate, research, and record the history of war and peace in Northeast Asia over the past 100 years.
The Northeast Asia Peace Archive is being built on a site of 4,120 square meters with a total floor area of 8,463 square meters (one basement level and three floors above ground). The current construction progress is approximately 68 percent, with completion targeted for the end of this year.
