People Power Party Floor Leader Chung Jeom-sik addressed the Democratic Party of Korea's pressure to complete the formation of the National Assembly, stating, "If you will only be satisfied by taking all 18 standing committees, then take them all."
During a floor strategy meeting held at the National Assembly, Floor Leader Chung stated, "Instead, amend the National Assembly Act unilaterally to allow the largest parliamentary party to monopolize all 18 standing committee chair positions, and then take them. If you do that, the People Power Party will also participate in the standing committees."
Floor Leader Chung told the Democratic Party, "Do not deceive the public by pretending that negotiations exist between the ruling and opposition parties through what is not a negotiation, but a threat, or a meaningless delay."
Regarding the stock market, Floor Leader Chung criticized, "Opposition parties and experts have continuously pointed out since last year that we must be wary of the excessive volatility lurking behind the KOSPI index, but the Lee Jae-myung administration was intoxicated by the flashy figures of KOSPI 5,000 and 9,000, closing its ears to criticism and warnings. On the contrary, the government itself stimulated instability in the stock market."
He continued, "In particular, the reckless introduction of leveraged ETFs for single stocks such as Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix was the worst decision that turned the stock market into an abnormal casino gambling den," adding, "We can no longer entrust the fate of the Korean economy to Policy Chief Kim Yong-beom, who led this decision."
He then urged, "I hope President Lee will dismiss Policy Chief Kim, the main culprit behind the leveraged exchange-traded fund (ETF) disaster, and completely reorganize the economic team."
