▲ KOTRA hosts the Korea-Japan AI Open Innovation Cooperation Day
The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) announced today (July 12) that it held the Korea-Japan AI Open Innovation Cooperation Day at its headquarters in Seocho-gu, Seoul, on July 10, in collaboration with Japan's Nikkei Inc. (Nihon Keizai Shimbun).
The event was organized to promote cooperation between AI innovation companies from both countries in response to the restructuring of global supply chains and the acceleration of AI transformation (AX).
With Nikkei leading a delegation of 14 companies—including five winners from its startup and new business development program, Nikkei The Pitch—five companies from both South Korea and Japan participated in the pitching session to share their technologies and collaboration needs.
KOTRA plans to consult with Nikkei to dispatch delegations to each other's countries and regularize these cooperative efforts.
Kim Myung-hee, KOTRA's Vice President and Head of the Industry Innovation Division, stated, "The AI and robotics sectors are key areas where Japanese companies, the government, and local municipalities are seeking cooperation with Korea to address aging populations and labor shortages." She added, "We will actively support our companies in seizing opportunities for technology proof-of-concept (PoC) projects, trade and investment expansion, and technical collaboration in Japan."
