Woman Attacked by Stranger; Assailant Found to be Underage Juvenile Offender

In Guri, Gyeonggi Province, a middle school student attacked a woman in her 40s with a weapon for no apparent reason. The student, who had prepared the weapon in advance, was identified as a juvenile under the age of 14, exempt from criminal liability.

An apartment complex in Guri, Gyeonggi Province.

At approximately 8:00 p.m. yesterday (July 9), a report was filed with 112 stating that a teenage boy was wielding a weapon.

When fire and police authorities arrived at the scene, a woman in her 40s, identified as A, had already sustained injuries to her shoulder.

Investigations revealed that the middle school student, B, who committed the attack, was neither a resident of the apartment complex nor a student at a nearby school.

It is reported that immediately after attacking A with the weapon, B put the weapon back into his own bag.

[Family of A: Whether it meant he felt he had succeeded or he came to his senses, he stopped his actions and put the knife back in his bag.]

A sustained injuries from the weapon wielded by B and reportedly managed to subdue B with the help of nearby residents.

[Family of A: My wife subdued him. She told him, If you do anything more, you will be in real trouble.]

When A called for help, residents rushed to the scene and held B until the police arrived.

A received treatment at a hospital, and it has been determined that her life is not in danger.

Police arrested B at the scene on charges of attempted murder. It was revealed that B is a juvenile under the age of 14, exempt from criminal liability, and had prepared the weapon at home before bringing it to the scene.

The police stated that they have placed B under emergency hospitalization after identifying potential mental health issues, and they plan to investigate the motive for the crime once he is stable.
