▲ President Lee Jae-myung and First Lady Kim Hye-kyung wave to welcomers upon arriving at Chinggis Khaan International Airport in Ulaanbaatar on the 9th (local time) via Air Force One during his state visit to Mongolia.
President Lee Jae-myung stated today (the 9th) regarding the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) upward revision of Korea's economic growth forecast, "I will work even harder to ensure that this high economic growth becomes a reality and leads to 'growth for all,' where the fruits of such growth are evenly distributed among all citizens."
President Lee made this pledge on X (formerly Twitter) today, noting, "While this is certainly good news, I am well aware that it is still difficult for the public to feel the impact in their daily lives."
President Lee shared the IMF's forecast in detail by posting a message on social media titled, "1.9% to 2.6%: Korea's Economic Growth Forecast Significantly Revised Upward."
He first explained, "This is a 0.7 percentage point increase from the forecast made in April, representing the largest upward adjustment among the 30 countries surveyed."
On the other hand, he also pointed out that the global economic growth forecast for this year has been revised downward to 3.0%, a 0.1 percentage point decrease from April.
He also mentioned that the IMF projected Korea's economic growth rate for next year at 2.5%, an increase of 0.4 percentage points, and attached significance to this by stating, "It is the highest level among major developed nations."
President Lee added, "Despite our high dependence on Middle Eastern energy imports, the strong performance in semiconductor and AI hardware exports has boosted our economic growth outlook."
