People Power Party Representative Jang Dong-hyeok urged today (July 9), "There is only one special counsel needed in the Republic of Korea right now. It is a 'suffrage restoration special counsel' to recover the trampled votes of the people, a 'people's special counsel' recommended by the opposition party with no limits on the scope of the investigation," adding, "Accept a proper people's special counsel immediately."
During the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly, Representative Jang stated, "If they reject the people's special counsel ordered by the public and push ahead with a special counsel to cancel Lee Jae-myung's trial, which the public rejects, that day will mark the end of their regime."
He continued his criticism, saying, "The Democratic Party's calculation regarding special counsels is simple. They reject the special counsel ordered by the people and unconditionally pursue the one ordered by Lee Jae-myung." He added, "(The Democratic Party) is monopolizing the Legislation and Judiciary Committee and operating it unilaterally to push forward the special counsel to cancel Lee Jae-myung's trial. Preventing Lee Jae-myung from going to prison has become the Democratic Party's number one platform and policy."
Furthermore, Representative Jang labeled the revised Information and Communications Network Act, which went into effect on July 7, as the "Online Gag Law." He claimed, "The Gag Law is a 'sanctuary law for Lee Jae-myung' that says, 'If you touch the supreme dignity Lee Jae-myung, we will arrest you.'" He further argued, "It is a law to intimidate the public, telling them to close their eyes, shut their ears, and keep their mouths shut even if Lee Jae-myung cancels his trial or pushes for a constitutional amendment to serve consecutive terms; it is a law that strips away freedom by controlling the words and thoughts of the people."
He added, "When an idol group member from Geoje, South Gyeongsang Province, said 'museopno' (a dialect expression), the left-wing camp swarmed like bees to attack them, labeling them as 'Ilbe' (a far-right online community). Our youth are now shouting 'wairano' (a dialect expression meaning 'what is going on') toward the Lee Jae-myung regime," he remarked.
