It has been confirmed that police have secured testimony stating that a police investigation team leader ordered officers to "just leave it" when a cable tie was discovered in Jang Yoon-gi's vehicle. The instruction was allegedly given to a patrol officer who found the cable tie during a search and seizure of the vehicle. The investigation team leader in question was arrested last night (July 8).

The special investigation team of the National Office of Investigation recently summoned and questioned Officer B, who was part of the investigation team at the Gwangju Gwangsan Police Station responsible for the initial investigation of the Jang Yoon-gi case.
Officer B is identified as the person who filmed the search and seizure of the SUV used by Jang Yoon-gi immediately after the incident occurred.
SBS has confirmed that during the police investigation, Officer B testified that when a cable tie was found in Jang's vehicle during the search, Police Inspector A, the investigation team leader, instructed him to "just leave it."
In response, Inspector A's side explained, "It appears that it was not a situation where such a remark would have been made, as we did not think the cable tie would be an issue at the time."
Inspector A's side also emphasized, "He has no personal acquaintance with Jang Yoon-gi's father, Police Inspector Jang," adding, "There is absolutely no reason to show leniency or provide help."
Based on Inspector A's position, the police are expanding their investigation, focusing on the possibility that there was intervention from so-called "higher-ups" above the team leader in the decision to ignore the cable tie despite it being discovered.
The Gwangju District Court issued an arrest warrant for Inspector A, who was emergency-arrested on charges of destroying evidence, last night, citing "concerns regarding the destruction of evidence and flight."
Regarding allegations of collusion with the Gwangju Gwangsan Police Station investigation team, the special investigation team summoned Jang Yoon-gi's father as a witness yesterday afternoon for questioning.
