Here in Sejong and across the Chungcheong region, heavy rain has repeatedly fallen and subsided throughout the day.
Although the rain has eased for now, access to the Geumgang River area behind me remains restricted due to the rainfall that persisted all day.
In Buyeo, 68mm of rain fell in just one hour today, triggering an emergency disaster alert for heavy rain.
The cumulative rainfall in Gongju has exceeded 80mm, and heavy downpours of over 60mm were recorded in Cheonan as well.
Currently, heavy rain advisories are in effect for parts of South and North Chungcheong provinces, including Daejeon, southern Sejong, Goesan, and Gongju, with more intense rain forecasted for tonight.
South Chungcheong Province has activated the Level 2 emergency regional disaster and safety countermeasures headquarters, and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety has also launched the Level 1 central disaster and safety countermeasures headquarters to respond to the situation.
The Korea Forest Service also raised the landslide crisis alert from "Caution" to "Alert" for six cities and provinces, including Daejeon, Sejong, Gangwon, Chungcheong, and Jeonbuk, starting at 2:30 p.m. today.

What is the situation regarding rain-related damage?

Damages have been reported one after another.
In Sejong, a road was temporarily closed due to a landslide, and in Daejeon, 14 reports were filed regarding flooding on roads and fallen trees.
In South Chungcheong Province, including Taean, Dangjin, and Asan, trees have fallen onto roads, and in Tancheon-myeon, Gongju, rainwater flooded a nursing hospital. So far, 25 reports of various rain-related damages have been filed in South Chungcheong Province.
In Jeonbuk, 14 reports related to the heavy rain have also been received.
Accidents on slick roads have also occurred in succession.
This afternoon in Chungju, North Chungcheong Province, a delivery motorcycle slipped on the wet road, resulting in the death of a driver in his 30s. Near the Jangheung Tunnel in Yangju, Gyeonggi Province, a passenger car also slipped on the rain-slicked road, killing the driver.
On the Sejong-Pocheon Expressway in Anseong, a passenger car skidded and crashed into the median barrier.
The Korea Meteorological Administration has urged extreme caution, warning that some regions may experience extreme downpours again tonight.
