It has been confirmed that the voice of a man in his 50s, the perpetrator of a recent dating violence murder in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, was recorded saying, "Let's die together," in a 112 emergency call made via the victim's smartwatch.
The recording also captured the victim's urgent cries and desperate pleas for her life.
According to the 112 emergency call transcript obtained by the office of Democratic Party lawmaker Yoon Kun-young, the emergency report via the victim's smartwatch was received at approximately 2:50 a.m. on July 5, the day of the incident, in Sangdaewon-dong, Jungwon-gu, Seongnam.
The transcript contains what is believed to be the voice of the victim, identified as A, screaming, "Don't come near me," "Stop it, please save me," and "Don't come," followed by sounds of screaming.
The voice of the perpetrator, a man in his 50s identified as B, was recorded saying, "Come here quickly," and "You and I are going to die together," along with profanities and remarks to the effect of, "You didn't think I would do this, did you?"
About one minute later, a citizen who witnessed the scene also called 112.
The caller reported the urgent situation, stating, "Someone is stabbing a person," "A man is stabbing a woman and has harmed himself," "They are on the verge of death," and "Both of them are collapsed."
Police arrived at the scene three minutes after receiving the report and transported A to a hospital, but she ultimately passed away.
B, who attempted self-harm immediately after the crime, was transported to a hospital for treatment. He has recently regained consciousness and is continuing to receive medical care.
A and B had been in a relationship for about four years. On June 8, A reported B to the police, stating that her ex-boyfriend was harassing her.
Following the report, B was issued a restraining order, and A was provided with a police-issued smartwatch and managed as a high-risk victim, classified as Grade A.
However, the police initially classified B as a medium-risk individual during the first risk assessment and did not upgrade his risk level. Consequently, B, who was not in police custody, prepared a weapon in advance and murdered A on July 5.
The police plan to execute an arrest warrant for B once his condition improves and will investigate whether the crime was premeditated or committed in retaliation.
