The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) will conduct the 2026 Vocational Competency Certification Assessment for approximately 58,000 third-year students at 569 vocational high schools nationwide from July 7 to July 10.

The Vocational Competency Certification Assessment, operated jointly by the Ministry of Education and the KCCI since 2015, is a system that objectively verifies the job skills of vocational high school students. Major public enterprises and large corporations, including Woori Bank, Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI), Korea Housing Finance Corporation, and Korea Electrical Safety Corporation, incorporate these results into their hiring processes for high school graduates.

The assessment is designed with questions that evaluate information literacy, analytical skills, and situational judgment required in actual work environments, helping companies objectively verify the practical problem-solving abilities of applicants.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education and the KCCI revamped the assessment for first and second-year students—previously held as a self-assessment once a year—into an "on-demand self-assessment system" this past April. The name was also changed from "Vocational Basic Competency Assessment" to "Vocational Competency Certification Assessment."

The assessment for third-year students, which has been held once annually in July, is planned to be expanded to twice a year starting next year, with the first and second halves. The authorities are also considering expanding the scope of the assessment to include general job seekers in addition to vocational high school students.
