Pope Leo XIV has begun his summer vacation, which will last for approximately 20 days.
The Vatican announced on July 5 (local time) that the Pope has moved to the Apostolic Palace in Castel Gandolfo for a period of rest until July 27.
All public audiences with the Pope will be suspended during the vacation period.
General audiences are scheduled to resume on August 5.
During his vacation, Pope Leo XIV plans to lead the Angelus prayer every Sunday at the Piazza della Libertà in Castel Gandolfo.
The papal villa in Castel Gandolfo is a 55-hectare estate located by a lake southeast of Rome.
The Vatican has owned this villa since 1596.
Successive popes have traditionally spent their summer vacations at this residence.
However, the previous Pope, Francis, did not spend his vacations there and instead converted the Apostolic Palace into a museum, opening it to the public.
