French investigative authorities have launched a preliminary investigation following allegations of child trafficking on the secondhand marketplace Vinted.
According to foreign media reports, these suspicions arose after platform users reported suspicious listings.
The posts in question claimed to be selling secondhand toys but set absurdly high prices, while the product descriptions included details such as the ages or physical characteristics of young children.
Vinted, which is headquartered in Lithuania, has strongly denied these allegations.
It is reported that French authorities also launched an investigation into Vinted last year after reports surfaced that some sellers were using the platform to sell explicit sexual content under the guise of swimwear or lingerie.
