Negotiations between the United States and Iran currently underway in Switzerland are at a standstill, but they have not concluded, U.S. media reported on June 21 (local time).

CNN reported this, citing an Iranian source who stated that they are in communication with the Iranian negotiating team on the ground in Switzerland.

The source added that informal discussions are continuing in an effort to bring the parties back to the negotiating table.

Barak Ravid, a reporter for the U.S. online media outlet Axios, also posted on X, stating, "A diplomat involved in the talks says the Iranian team has not left and that discussions between the U.S. and Iran are ongoing."

The Iranian Tasnim News Agency had previously reported that the Iranian delegation left the negotiation site in protest of U.S. President Donald Trump's threat that he could launch another powerful airstrike on Iran.

Following a previous Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), the United States and Iran began follow-up negotiations on this day at the Bürgenstock Resort near Lake Lucerne in Switzerland.

During the 60-day follow-up negotiation period, issues such as Iran's plan to abandon its nuclear program and the continued free passage through the Strait of Hormuz are set to be discussed.
