The Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, which oversees the integrated command of the Iranian military, announced today (June 20) that it is closing the Strait of Hormuz once again.

This comes just two days after the strait was reopened to maritime traffic on June 18, following the implementation of a cease-fire memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the United States and Iran.

In a statement released today, the Khatam al-Anbiya headquarters declared, "In response to the United States' clear violation of the principle of good faith and failure to uphold promises, including the non-compliance with Article 1 of the MOU regarding the end of the war, and due to the Israeli regime's persistent violations of the agreement and failure to withdraw from southern Lebanon, we declare the closure of the Strait of Hormuz to all passing vessels."

Article 1 of the cease-fire MOU, signed on June 17, stipulates an immediate and permanent cessation of military operations across all fronts, including Lebanon, and guarantees the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Lebanon.

Despite the announcement of the MOU, Israel has continued its airstrikes in southern Lebanon. Although Israel agreed to a truce with Hezbollah, it carried out further airstrikes this morning, citing preemptive attacks by Hezbollah as the reason.

While U.S. President Donald Trump claims to oppose Israel's airstrikes in Lebanon, Iran maintains that the U.S. is responsible, accusing Washington of either condoning or instigating the actions.

The Khatam al-Anbiya headquarters further warned, "This measure is the first step in our response to the enemies' failure to honor their commitments. If the aggression continues, we will plan and execute subsequent measures to force the enemies to fulfill their obligations."
