The Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education and Training announced today (June 17) that 53 companies have been selected to participate in the 'K-New Deal Academy,' a government project designed to support young people entering the labor market.

The K-New Deal Academy is a program where companies design and operate specialized vocational training programs for young people, with the government providing financial support. It was newly launched this year through the government's supplementary budget.

Unemployed young people are eligible to participate in the programs.

Participating youth will receive training allowances based on their attendance rates.

Those in the Seoul metropolitan area can receive up to 300,000 won per month, while those in non-metropolitan areas can receive up to 500,000 won per month.

In addition to the training allowances, the government will also cover the costs incurred by companies for operating the academies.

A total of 107 companies applied for this round of recruitment, resulting in the selection of 72 academy courses from 53 companies (50 companies excluding overlapping consortiums).

Doosan Robotics was selected for proposing a regional business development course utilizing collaborative robot technology.

The initiative aims to support youth in regional startups and business development in addition to acquiring robotics skills.

Celltrion introduced a program that leverages the infrastructure of the Songdo Bio Cluster to provide practical training across the entire bio-industry cycle, combining mentoring from current professionals with hands-on facilities to enhance job competencies in the bio and pharmaceutical sectors.

CJ ENM plans to operate a long-term course focused on K-content creation, including analysis of K-dramas and OTT (video streaming) works, as well as storytelling techniques.

In addition, programs from several major companies such as Samsung Electronics, Hyundai Motor Company, and LG Electronics were also selected.

Each company will recruit participating youth according to their individual training schedules.

The list of selected companies can be found on the websites of the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education and Training.

Minister of Employment and Labor Kim Young-hoon stated, "While it is regrettable that we could not partner with more companies this year due to budget constraints, we will further expand the scale of the project next year." He added, "The government will continue to provide support so that the K-New Deal Academy can establish itself as a new model where companies and young people grow together."
