Heavy monsoon rains are expected to pour, primarily across the central and Honam regions, through tomorrow, July 9.

In particular, intense rainfall with an hourly rate of up to 50mm is expected between this morning and tonight.

The forecasted rainfall amounts are up to 200mm or more in Chungnam and Jeonbuk, up to 150mm or more in other central regions, and up to 120mm or more in northern Gyeongbuk and northwestern Jeonnam.

Preliminary heavy rain advisories have been issued for parts of Gyeonggi, Gangwon, and Chungnam, where heavy rain is expected this morning.

Meanwhile, Yeongnam and Jeju will experience heat waves today, with perceived temperatures reaching around 33°C (91°F).

Tropical nights are also expected in some southern regions tonight.

Daytime heat will be somewhat moderated today in the central and Honam regions.

As the monsoon rain is expected to mostly subside over the weekend, sweltering heat is anticipated both day and night in Seoul.
