Casualties are mounting in central and northwestern China as the regions are hit by a series of heavy rains, strong winds, and landslides.

Chinese President Xi Jinping has ordered all-out rescue efforts to minimize the loss of life and property damage.

According to China Central Television (CCTV) on July 7, a landslide occurred in Longnan, Gansu Province, at 6:56 a.m. (local time) today, leaving 33 residents buried.

As of this morning, 17 people have been rescued.

Authorities stated that relevant agencies, including emergency management, fire departments, and medical teams, have deployed rescue personnel to search for the missing and assist in the evacuation of residents.

The authorities are also strengthening safety measures to prevent secondary disasters, such as additional landslides.

In the eastern part of Hubei Province, at least 8 people were killed and 1 remains missing due to strong winds, including a tornado, that occurred last night.

According to the state-run Xinhua News Agency, strong winds accompanied by thunder and lightning struck parts of Hubei Province between 7:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. yesterday.

Tornadoes were reported in some areas.

Authorities have deployed approximately 3,500 rescue personnel to the affected areas to carry out search and recovery operations.

President Xi issued instructions today, stating, "We must make every effort to carry out search and rescue operations, treat the injured, support those affected by the disaster, and thoroughly conduct disaster prevention and relief work to protect lives and property."
