A Polish official stated on July 6 (local time) that the United States will soon resume the deployment of 4,000 troops to Poland, a move that had been abruptly halted.

According to Reuters, Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz said at a signing ceremony for a production agreement with U.S. firm Anduril for Barracuda cruise missiles, "Poland is a loyal ally of the United States. I am even more pleased with the news that the suspended rotational deployment will resume and be completed within a few weeks."

Previously, in May, the U.S. Department of Defense halted the deployment of the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team of the 1st Cavalry Division to Poland.

The deployment of this 4,000-strong unit is part of the rotational presence in Europe.

Some of the troops had already departed for Poland.

This measure was taken as the Donald Trump administration was conducting a comprehensive review of U.S. troop deployments in Europe, including the announcement that it would reduce the number of troops in Germany by 5,000.

There are approximately 10,000 U.S. troops stationed in Poland.

The number of permanently stationed troops is around 500, while the rest rotate every 6 to 9 months.

Poland has been praised by President Trump for its massive increase in defense spending.

Officials are leveraging this relationship to push not only for the resumption of rotational deployments but also for an increase in permanent personnel.

The local media outlet Dziennik Gazeta Prawna reported on the same day that the Trump administration has expressed its intention to pursue both the resumption of rotational troop deployments and the construction of bases for permanent personnel, with additional troops expected to arrive within three months.
