Former Jinbo Party lawmaker Kim Jong-hun announced his candidacy for the party leadership today (July 6), stating, "I will dedicate everything I have to the new leap forward of the Jinbo Party."
Kim held a press conference at the National Assembly today and said, "I will stop the runaway inequality and protect the lives of the people."
He stated, "A massive surplus in tax revenue is expected due to the semiconductor boom, and that money must be returned to the lives of the people," adding, "I propose forming a '100 Trillion Won Committee' with both ruling and opposition parties to join forces in making all of our lives more equitable."
Kim further emphasized, "A strong progressive movement begins with a strong party," and vowed, "I will transform the Jinbo Party into a mass party that prepares for governance."
To achieve this, he pledged to cultivate 200 alternative political leaders, hold a national rally for the recovery of people's livelihoods, host a grand transformation forum for the 10th anniversary of the party's founding, achieve victory in the 2028 general election, and build a 2030 political platform.
Kim also promised to abolish the National Security Act and reclaim wartime operational control, stating, "We must resolve the hostile confrontational structure and restore inter-Korean relations."
The Jinbo Party will hold voting for the party leadership election from July 20 to 24, following regional campaigns and debates, and will announce the results thereafter.
