The Blue House has announced a plan to utilize additional tax revenue generated by the semiconductor boom for a new "Future Response Fund." The goal is to use these funds as investment capital for three major mega-projects, as well as to address housing and startup challenges for the younger generation.

Reporter Kang Min-u has the story.

This was the first high-level meeting between the party, government, and the Blue House in about three months since April.

Blue House Chief of Staff Kang Hoon-sik stated, "We are at a critical juncture that will determine the future of the Republic of Korea," adding, "We will establish a Future Response Fund to utilize additional tax revenue as investment capital."

[Kang Hoon-sik / Blue House Chief of Staff: We must not waste the 'additional tax revenue' generated by the semiconductor boom and other factors. We will make bold investments in the future of the Republic of Korea, including support for the 'three major mega-projects,' the creation of future growth engines, and support for housing, startups, and jobs for the 2030 generation.]

Various discussions have been ongoing within the ruling party regarding how to utilize the increase in tax revenue, which is expected to exceed 40 trillion won this year.

Recently, the term "additional tax revenue" has begun to be used instead of "excess tax revenue."

[President Lee Jae-myung (on the 2nd): Please ensure that we make every effort to create stable investment resources for future generations by efficiently utilizing the 'additional tax revenue.']

The Blue House has now proposed the plan to create this fund.

The "Future Response Fund" is expected to be used for building infrastructure to support the "three major mega-projects."

The ruling party announced that it is considering upgrading the "Three Major Mega-Projects Task Force" to a committee to provide detailed support for legislation and budgeting.

[Han Byung-do / Acting Representative and Floor Leader of the Democratic Party: I would like to say that we are also considering a plan for the party leader or floor leader to personally chair the committee to push the work forward with speed.]

The government has pledged to produce concrete results.

[Han Seong-suk / Prime Minister: If the party, government, and the Blue House all become one team, and the private sector joins us as one team, I believe we will achieve truly great results.]

President Lee Jae-myung is scheduled to preside over a public-private joint meeting here at the Blue House today (July 6), one week after announcing the "three major mega-projects," with plans to accelerate the implementation of these large-scale investment plans.
