The funeral for Ali Khamenei, the former Supreme Leader of Iran who was killed in an Israeli airstrike, began in the capital, Tehran, on July 4, local time.

The funeral had been postponed due to the ongoing war, but following Iran's agreement to a ceasefire with the United States last month, the ceremony is finally taking place 126 days after his death.

Crowds of mourners gathered at the Mosalla prayer grounds, a large place of worship, chanting for "revenge." Authorities estimate that up to 20 million people will gather during the six-day funeral period.
