Final Application Rate for High Oil Price Subsidy Reaches 98%... 6.1123 Trillion Won Disbursed

The final application rate for the high oil price damage subsidy has been recorded at 98 percent.

According to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, 35.40 million applicants completed their registration for the first and second rounds of the subsidy by the 6 p.m. deadline yesterday (July 3).

Out of the 36.14 million people eligible for the payment (those in the bottom 70 percent of income), 98.0 percent have completed their applications.

The total amount disbursed is 6.1123 trillion won.

The average payment per person is approximately 173,000 won.

Among these, the first round of subsidies, which targeted vulnerable groups such as basic livelihood security recipients, the near-poverty class, and single-parent families, saw 3.20 million applicants, marking an application rate of 99.0 percent.

A total of 1.8168 trillion won was paid to these individuals, averaging about 568,000 won per person.

Regarding the method of receiving the subsidy, credit and debit cards were the most common choice, used by 23.53 million people (66.5 percent).

This was followed by mobile and card-type local currency vouchers at 5.95 million (16.8 percent), prepaid cards at 5.28 million (14.9 percent), and paper-based local currency vouchers at 648,942 (1.8 percent).

By region, the application rates were highest in South Jeolla Province (98.99 percent), North Jeolla Province (98.94 percent), and South Gyeongsang Province (98.91 percent), while they were lowest in Seoul (96.46 percent), Gyeonggi Province (97.46 percent), and Incheon (97.70 percent).
