A man in his 60s is facing a potential arrest warrant hearing after allegedly assaulting police officers while blocking the National Assembly's special investigation committee from entering a vote counting center in Jamsil. The committee was conducting an investigation into the ballot paper shortage incident during the June 3 local elections.

The Seoul Eastern District Court is scheduled to hold a warrant review hearing for the man, identified as A, at 3:00 p.m. today (July 4) on charges of obstruction of justice.

A is accused of pushing and assaulting a police officer on July 2 at approximately 1:10 p.m. at the Olympic Park Handball Gymnasium in Songpa-gu, Seoul, while police were removing protesters who were blocking the special committee's entry.

At the time, the protesters, who were attempting to prevent the committee from conducting an on-site investigation, linked arms and resisted by shouting, "You cannot enter without a warrant," before being removed by police one by one.

In response, the police stated, "This was not a forced dispersal, but a relocation measure based on the Police Duties Execution Act."

The Songpa Police Station requested an arrest warrant for A, who was apprehended at the scene, yesterday.
