The group BTS has been named an honorary guest of the city of La Plata, Argentina, where they are scheduled to perform in October, according to Big Hit Music.
The La Plata City Council unanimously passed a motion to designate BTS as honorary guests of the city during a regular meeting held on July 2 (local time).
Under the ordinances of La Plata, the title of honorary guest is the highest level of official recognition bestowed upon distinguished visitors or world-renowned figures in culture and the arts.
The city council cited BTS's cultural influence, their contributions to promoting the rights of youth worldwide, and their international activities in the cultural sector as reasons for the selection.
BTS will hold their world tour concert, titled Arirang, at the Estadio Único de La Plata in the capital of Buenos Aires Province for three days on October 21 and October 23–24, marking the first time a Korean artist has performed at the venue.
