The death toll from the powerful earthquake that struck Venezuela on June 24 has surpassed 2,500.

Delcy Rodriguez, the interim president of Venezuela, announced on July 2 (local time) that 2,595 deaths have been confirmed so far.

She also stated that the number of injured has exceeded 12,000, and 189 buildings have completely collapsed.
