A police officer is under investigation after fatally striking a woman in her 60s who was lying on the road with a patrol vehicle. The Incheon Michuhol Police Station is investigating a female police officer in her 20s, identified as Constable A from a local patrol division, on charges of causing death by professional negligence under the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Settlement of Traffic Accidents. Constable A is accused of driving over the woman in her 60s, who was lying on a side street in Sungui-dong, Michuhol-gu, Incheon, at approximately 12:45 a.m. today, July 3, 2026. It was determined that Constable A was responding to a report of a person collapsed on the road along with Sergeant B, a colleague from the same division, when the accident occurred, resulting in the death of the person they were dispatched to assist. Police explained that the accident site was dimly lit and located near a left-turn section. Constable A reportedly stated during the police investigation that she "did not properly see the woman lying on the ground." The police plan to determine whether to request an arrest warrant after analyzing nearby CCTV footage to confirm the exact circumstances of the accident. The police stated, "We do not consider the passenger, Sergeant B, to be subject to punishment as there was no duty of care involved."
