Hong Seok-gi, Director of the Investigation Bureau at the National Police Agency, has been appointed as the Head of the National Office of Investigation, the top command post for police investigations.

This comes two days after the retirement of the former head, Park Seong-ju, on June 30.

The National Police Agency announced that Hong will be promoted to the rank of Commissioner General and will take office as the 4th Head of the National Office of Investigation today, July 3.

The new head, a native of Jecheon, North Chungcheong Province, graduated from the Korean National Police University with a degree in law (8th class) and has served in the police force for 34 years since joining in 1991.
