The Norwegian folk-pop duo Kings of Convenience, affectionately known in Korea by their nickname "Convenience Kings," will hold a concert in Seoul this coming November.

Concert promoter Private Curve announced, "We are launching a new concert series titled 'SJF at the Theater' at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts Grand Theater this November. The first artist to headline the series is Kings of Convenience."

SJF at the Theater is an expanded brand of the Seoul Jazz Festival (SJF), a premier music festival held annually in Korea. The series aims to bring the atmosphere of the spring outdoor festival into a theater setting during the autumn season, offering a more immersive concert experience. The Sejong Center for the Performing Arts Grand Theater holds special significance, as it served as the venue for the Seoul Jazz Festival from its inaugural event in 2007 through its fifth edition in 2011, marking the festival's roots from nearly two decades ago.

Kings of Convenience is a duo consisting of Eirik Glambek Bøe and Erlend Øye. Formed in 1999, they began their career in earnest with the release of their first studio album, Quiet Is The New Loud, in 2001. The album gained attention for its acoustic guitar arrangements and delicate vocal harmonies, topping the Norwegian album charts at the time.

Their second studio album, Riot On An Empty Street, released in 2004, showcased a richer musical landscape by incorporating various instruments such as piano, trumpet, viola, and cello. The album reached number two on the Norwegian charts and entered the U.S. Billboard Independent Albums chart, helping to expand their international recognition. In particular, tracks such as Homesick and Misread climbed to the top of domestic music charts, playing a major role in building their fan base in Korea.

Their third studio album, Declaration Of Dependence (2009), was praised for establishing their identity by emphasizing the duo's signature acoustic sound and calm, emotional vocals. It was also their first album to enter the Billboard 200 chart, solidifying their status as global artists. In 2021, they released Peace Or Love, their fourth studio album in 12 years, featuring a mature sound that retained their timeless sensibility.

Kings of Convenience have a special affection for Korea. They have held a total of four solo concerts in Korea in 2008, 2010, 2023, and 2025, and have met their Korean fans through the Seoul Jazz Festival in 2013, 2016, and 2025. This upcoming event marks their first solo concert in a grand theater setting in approximately 16 years, following their 2010 performance at the Olympic Hall in Olympic Park, and will allow them to present their warm, lyrical melodies and beautiful harmonies on a larger stage.

Additional lineups for SJF at the Theater, which will bring the vibe of the Seoul Jazz Festival to a theater venue, will be announced sequentially. Tickets for SJF at the Theater - Kings of Convenience will be available for purchase starting at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, July 7, via Sejong Center Ticket, Melon Ticket, and Yes24 Ticket.
