Two people were injured after an 80-year-old man went on a stabbing spree at a hair salon in Geoje, South Gyeongsang Province.

According to the Geoje Police Station on Thursday, July 2, the suspect, identified as an 80-year-old man surnamed A, entered a hair salon in the city at 11:25 a.m. and attacked a 30-year-old female employee and a 40-year-old male customer with a weapon he had brought with him.

The victims fled the salon after being stabbed. Following a report received at 11:31 a.m., fire authorities and police responded to the scene, and the victims were transported to a hospital for treatment.

Police arrested A at the scene at 11:38 a.m. on charges of attempted murder.

It is suspected that A ingested poison after committing the crime, and he is currently undergoing medical examination at a hospital.

The severity of the victims' injuries and the exact current condition of A have not yet been confirmed.

Another employee was present at the salon during the incident, but no further injuries were reported.

The police plan to request an arrest warrant for A after investigating the exact circumstances of the incident, including the relationship between the victims and the suspect, as well as the motive for the crime.
