In the Round of 32 match against the Democratic Republic of the Congo, England was trailing 1-0 even after the hydration break in the second half, but they managed a thrilling turnaround in the final moments.
Ace Harry Kane put on a one-man show.
In the 75th minute, he headed in a cross from Gordon to score his fourth goal of the tournament, a dramatic equalizer. Eleven minutes later, he created space with a brilliant dribble before firing a thunderous right-footed shot into the top corner of the net.
Thanks to Kane's multi-goal performance, England secured a 2-1 comeback victory and advanced to the Round of 16.
[Harry Kane/England National Team Forward: I thought it might not be our day after being stopped by the opponent's goalkeeper, but we kept believing and continued to attack until the end. I believed that a hero's moment would come for someone, and I am grateful that I became that hero today.]
Belgium also achieved an unbelievable comeback win against Senegal.
Trailing 2-0, Belgium's star striker Romelu Lukaku ignited the spark with a goal in the 86th minute. Three minutes later, Youri Tielemans scored with a brilliant header to level the match.
Even in extra time, Belgium engaged in a back-and-forth battle with Senegal before deciding the match just before the final whistle.
Tielemans drew a foul from the opponent inside the penalty box and successfully converted the penalty kick himself, celebrating the moment with his teammates.
With a 3-2 comeback victory, Belgium confirmed their spot in the Round of 16. In the following match, the United States overcame the setback of Folarin Balogun's red card to defeat Bosnia and Herzegovina 2-0, setting up a Round of 16 clash between Belgium and the U.S. on July 7.
