▲ Han Byung-do, Acting Leader and Floor Leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, speaks about the operational direction of the second half of the 22nd National Assembly during a Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly on the 1st.

Han Byung-do, Acting Leader and Floor Leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, stated, "The Democratic Party will look only toward the people and convene an extraordinary session of the National Assembly in July."

During a policy coordination meeting held at the National Assembly today (July 2), Acting Leader Han emphasized this, saying, "Just as there is no pause in the lives of the people, the same applies to the National Assembly."

Acting Leader Han said, "We will promptly convene an extraordinary session and hold meetings for at least the 11 standing committees where chairpersons have been elected to examine urgent livelihood issues," adding, "We will concentrate our party's capabilities on completing national tasks and achieving a great leap forward for the Republic of Korea."

He further added, "I sternly ask the People Power Party: What is the reason for trying to paralyze the National Assembly by refusing even the assignment of standing committee members according to the National Assembly Speaker's authority and submitting resignation letters for all members?" and stated, "You must not boycott the people's livelihoods as well."

As negotiations on the formation of the National Assembly with the People Power Party continued to stall, the Democratic Party unilaterally elected chairpersons for 10 standing committees and the Special Committee on Budget and Accounts at the National Assembly plenary session on the 30th of last month.

Acting Leader Han also mentioned the luncheon between President Lee Jae-myung and former President Moon Jae-in held the previous day, saying, "As the two presidents held hands and pledged the success of the democratic government, the Democratic Party will also unite as a solid 'one team' to firmly support the state affairs of the Lee Jae-myung administration."

He continued by promising, "Above all, we will take the lead in realizing the core visions and values of the democratic government, such as regional-led growth, balanced national development, peace on the Korean Peninsula, and prosecution reform."
