In his welcoming remarks at the National Report on the Development Vision for Advanced Industries in the Chungcheong Region held in Asan, South Chungcheong Province, today, Chairman Lee stated, "We have been able to witness in Chungcheong a model of a virtuous cycle where preemptive investment drives corporate growth, and that growth leads to the development of not only the region but the entire nation."
He also reflected on Samsung's investments in the Chungcheong region to date, noting, "Samsung's dreams have taken root, grown, and borne fruit here in Chungcheong."
Specifically, he noted, "About 30 years ago, this area in Asan was a vast vineyard, but now it has become the world's largest display complex," adding, "The Onyang Campus, which was mostly fields, is transitioning from a center for general-purpose semiconductor back-end processes to a global, state-of-the-art High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) fab."
