Kwon Soon-woo (ranked 200th, Korea Armed Forces Athletic Corps), currently serving his final months in the military, has been eliminated in the second round of the men's singles at the 2026 Wimbledon Championships (total prize money of 64.2 million pounds).

On Wednesday, Kwon lost 3-0 to Tommy Paul (ranked 25th, USA) in the second round of the men's singles held at the All England Club in London, England, in a match that lasted two hours and 11 minutes.

Kwon, who reached the main draw after winning all three qualifying matches, defeated Martin Landaluce (ranked 60th, Spain) 3-0 in the first round to secure his first Wimbledon main draw victory in five years, since 2021.

However, he was unable to overcome Paul in the second round, failing to reach the third round of a major tournament for the second time in his career.

Kwon once reached a career-high world ranking of 52nd.

He is a leading figure in South Korean men's tennis, having won the Astana Open in 2021 and the Adelaide International in 2023.

Since then, he struggled on the tour due to a combination of injuries and military service, with his world ranking falling outside the top 300 earlier this year.

However, he laid the groundwork for a comeback by winning the Gwangju Open Challenger in April and the Wuxi Open Challenger in China, and he returned to the main draw of a major tournament for the first time in two years by passing through the Wimbledon qualifiers.

On this day, Kwon recorded a 70 percent first-serve percentage in the first set, but he lost the initiative after dropping a service game to Paul, who utilized 9 aces and 13 winners.

In the second set, the two players traded breaks, but Kwon lost the set after falling 4-7 in the tiebreak.

Kwon was overwhelmed by Paul's powerful serves and attacks in the third set as well, and Paul secured two breaks to close out the match.

With this loss, Kwon now trails 0-3 in his head-to-head record against Paul.
