North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has sent a congratulatory message to Chinese President Xi Jinping on the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, reaffirming his commitment to developing friendly relations between the two countries.
The Korean Central News Agency reported today (July 1) that Kim stated in his message that he has the "willingness to continue to elevate and develop the North Korea-China friendship and cooperation, which is the common asset of the peoples of the two countries, in line with the demands of the era."
Congratulating the party on its founding anniversary, Kim praised the status and role of the Communist Party of China, stating, "The truth that there would be no new China without the Communist Party is what the Chinese people have learned through their long journey of following the party."
He further stated, "It is the firm and unwavering position of our party and government to continuously strengthen and develop North Korea-China friendly relations, which have deep historical roots and are centered on socialism."
Recalling the North Korea-China summit held in Pyongyang on June 8–9, he assessed it as a "historic occasion that deepened comradely friendship and trust, and reaffirmed the unswerving will to more powerfully drive socialist construction and traditional friendly relations in both countries."
He went on to emphasize that "the absolute superiority of North Korea-China relations is firmly guaranteed by the leadership of the party."
On June 30, the Chinese Embassy in North Korea held a banquet to mark the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, hosted by Chinese Ambassador to North Korea Wang Yajun, with North Korean Workers' Party secretaries Jo Yong-won and Kim Song-nam in attendance.
In his speech at the banquet, Ambassador Wang stated that "sharing destiny across generations, helping and protecting each other, and uniting with sincerity is the fundamental flow of China-North Korea friendly exchanges," and expressed his willingness to "strengthen strategic communication and deepen the exchange of experience in party and state management."
Prior to the banquet, a "North Korea-China Party Building Experience Exchange Seminar" was held at the embassy between the Workers' Party of Korea and the Communist Party of China.
The Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea sent a floral basket to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China to mark the anniversary.
A floral basket in the name of the North Korean Embassy in China was also delivered.
Following President Xi's visit to North Korea—the first in seven years since 2019—the two countries reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening strategic communication and expanding cooperation through summits and joint statements, agreeing to expand exchanges and cooperation in various fields including economy, trade, agriculture, and construction, as well as high-level exchanges.
Kim has been actively demonstrating the recently tightened relations between the two countries, including sending a congratulatory message and a floral tribute to President Xi on his birthday last month.
