Today, June 30, the last day of the month, continued to see sweltering heat.

Heat wave advisories remain in effect, primarily for the central regions, where daytime temperatures reached around 33°C (91°F).

As temperatures rose significantly, unstable atmospheric conditions led to showers in inland areas, while the rainy season has officially begun in Jeju as the stationary front moves northward.

This marks the start of the monsoon season 11 days later than the average year, making it the third-latest start since meteorological records began.

Heavy rain of up to 180mm or more is expected to concentrate in Jeju until the early hours of the day after tomorrow, July 2. Monsoon rain is also expected to begin along the southern coast starting early tomorrow morning, July 1.

Residents in inland areas should also be cautious of intense showers accompanied by gusts and lightning through tonight.

Tomorrow, July 1, inland regions will continue to experience strong solar radiation through the clouds, and the central regions will see scorching heat of around 33°C (91°F).
