U.S. President Donald Trump has posted an AI-generated image on social media showing a large golden eagle sculpture attached to a White House balcony.
On June 29 (local time), President Trump shared the photo of the golden eagle on the second-floor balcony of the White House on Truth Social, accompanied by the brief caption, "A golden gift to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the White House."
The White House later shared the post on its official X (formerly Twitter) account.
Local media outlets analyzed the photo's metadata and discovered that it contained content authentication information suggesting it was generated by artificial intelligence.
Furthermore, reports pointed out that the balcony railing in the photo differed slightly from the actual structure, and that there were only 11 stars placed on the eagle's body.
In the United States, 13 stars are typically included in various symbols to commemorate the original 13 colonies that founded the nation.
The original photo used for the image appears to have been taken by freelance photographer Andrew Leyden.
After President Trump posted the image, the photographer shared the original photo, which lacks the eagle sculpture, on his own social media account.

Since returning to office in 2025, he has placed various gold decorations throughout the White House and installed large, gold commemorative coin-shaped medals in several areas of the Oval Office and the executive residence.
Local media have requested comments from the White House to confirm whether the photo was indeed created using artificial intelligence.
