The National Assembly's Special Committee on Personnel Hearings adopted the confirmation hearing report for Prime Minister nominee Han Seong-sook today (June 30), led by the Democratic Party of Korea.

The report includes a majority opinion of "qualified," while also noting dissenting opinions of "unqualified."

The People Power Party boycotted the meeting in protest against the tabling of the motion.

The Democratic Party plans to put the motion for the appointment to a vote at the National Assembly plenary session scheduled for this afternoon.

Given the number of seats held by the Democratic Party and pan-ruling coalition parties, it is possible to vote on and pass the Prime Minister confirmation motion without the consent of the People Power Party.

For a Prime Minister to be appointed, the confirmation motion must be passed at the plenary session with a majority of the registered members present and a majority of those present voting in favor.
